Real Madrid vs Valencia

Today Madrid take on Valencia for the second time this week in hopes of taking advantage of a Barcelona slip and making it to straight against their Valencian rivals. Whether or not Mourinho opts to change formations from the midweek game will be interesting as many suspected the 4-3-3 formation is what Mourinho is planning to use against Manchester United in the Champion’s League. Madrid have done well in the Mestalla, winning their last three matches and scoring twelve goals. Hopefully the Whites will be able to continue their run of form and walk away with three points. Here’s to the second Madrid victory against Valencia in four days. Hala Madrid!

      Looking back it’s really only Carvalho and Benzema (even though off form) I was going to say Di Maria based on his bad run of games, but in hindsight he may be back to the Di Maria we all know and love. I didn’t see the last Valencia game. I assumed Benzema was still in better form than Higuain.

WTF! Seek and DESTROY! and this manita is VERY complimentary to the Argentine-RM reject gang [Valencia], If there was any fairness in this world they’d be 0-10 down at HT! Gago..wow..I’m surprised we got any money for this guy, seriously what a torrid performance from him. Tbh I feel sorry for Ever Banega, he should definitely be in a better team.

Now to RM, where was this team 5 months ago in this very fixture at the SB? Today we showed intent to hammer, sheer dominance, ruthless aggressiveness, gorgeous interplay, simple one-touch passing with almost NO long balls..above all our entire forward line CLICKED for the first time this season and the results are plain for everyone to see! Ozil, Coentrao (wtf can’t he play like this everytime?), CR, Di Maria, Khedira, ARBELOA, Higuain and Xabi all put an amazing show. What a team; it just makes me sad the huge cap between our potential and our displays this season. We’ve given the zeros in football a value due to our laziness and poor attitude..sigh..

A lot of the bitter commentators, pundits and fans are saying Valencia was “weak” minimizing our sadistic thumping of Valencia . Valencia are no pushovers, they have been consistently the 3rd best team in Spain for a number of years now. This is the same side that embarrassed us at the Santiago Bernabeu less than weak ago and undeservedly left without a point or an away goal. Except, this Valencia tonight was playing at home, coming off a better run in the league than us (7 wins in 9?) and they were driven by vengeance for their recent “ref-influenced” defeat in the CDR on Wednesday. Also, let’s not forget we’ve played “lesser” teams in La Liga and still lost the plot and leaked points!

What was so different about Real Madrid in the first 45 tonight? Will for starters our entire team [particularly the forwards and fullbacks] clicked simultaneously for the very FIRST time this season: CR, Ozil, Di Maria, Higuain, Khedira, Xabi, Arbeloa and Coentrao looked like the unit that has been playing together for +2 years. We passed the ball simply and elegantly using one-touch football rather than aimless long balls and even though our possession was nothing over the top but we controlled the rhythm of the game. But aside from all that, we unleashed full-throttle power pressing on Valencia as*; we suffocated them and then consequently shredded them mercilessly. We gave them the hell we have given Barcelona in our last outings, albeit the Catalans have the manpower and quality to deal with such pressing more adequately; Valencia simply collapsed.

In the second half, we didn’t really need to waste energy or put on a show, the work was done and the game was put to bed; this is what we should have done in the all the games we dropped points in this season: wreck them in 1st, absorb pressure and counter in the 2nd. I was impressed by how well we defended particularly setpieces. In addition, Arbeloa was absolutely phenomenal in shutting off his flank for the entirety of the game, great stuff from him..

Just a few miscellaneous pointers:

- Coentrao is brilliant at defending corners. His yellow [handball] was BS, where was he supposed to have his hands? Di Maria’s, on the other hand, I understand.

- Jonas is one gifted actor, the diving on this guy is a hybrid between Suarez and Busquets.

- We made excellent use of width, heck even Arbeloa made one or two fantastic crosses!

- I was happy to see Canales back on his feet, he’s an unlucky chap!

- Adil Rami is a tree! He should have conceded at least one penalty [vs Cristiano] and gotten a Yellow for his over-indulgent pushing! The sorry look on his face [like he missed the bus :p] after the 5th goal was priceless though

- We should have skinned Valencia with at least 9 goals! After all, they started our absymal league run back in August!

- 4 clean sheets in 4 for Iker, the bench did do him some good after all. Well done saint!

Hala Madrid! We bury Valencia on Wednesday by the grace of god!

  Valencia did look like they weren’t very keen to play. Their defending were poor. Smaller teams have done better against us compared to valencia – by being better organised, more pressing, ruthless double-teaming, more physical, and they got at least a point, and many times this season, all 3.

    Of course I’m thrilled that we rubbed their faces 5-0. But I wonder why we didn’t even put in at least 1 more in the second half, if only just to show our superiority is no fluke.

    If you think our 45-minute rout was a mere “fluke” and you chose to ignore the fact that we dominated Valencia from minute 1 with high pressing and aggressiveness in the middle of the park, then there is no discussion with you.
    
    In the many games where we dropped 2 or 3 points, our opponents didn’t overpower us as much as WE ourselves failed to make the easiest of passes or simply play with spirit.

  You can’t blame them as we did play like this before and we end up losing next game! until now we didn’t give them a consistent run of performances to convince them of ability to be the best.

good win for us. in second half they played well. our defense performed very well and iker kept clean sheet again(bow). but this does not mean CDR 2nd leg will be easy. banega, parejo and barragan in midfield can put us under pressure. plus dont forget canales is back.
on the other hand i really want to see malaga beating barca. i dont want classico SF.
